My time at the Media Lab
In 1984 I came to work for Walter Bender
as a UROP. At the
time, my only qualification was that I could play softball on Walter's Shadow
Mask team.
The first project that I worked on was a visual editor for
fixing characters that an antialiasing program didn't get quite right.
Another text related project
was the "Laminar Display" which I created some text screen for.
I spent
a lot of time working on the color library which was as set of functions for
translating colors between color spaces. For example, munsell coordinates to RGB
numbers.
I had a great and formative experience at the lab!
