Dunham-Jones joins the design faculty this year after teaching at the University of Virginia since1986. She is interested in the concepts of place and placelessness and has been studying postindustrialism and placelessness with the support of a research grant from the W. Alton Jones Foundation. Among her recent design projects are "A Virginia Habitat" for Habitat for Humanity (1992), Grounded, a multimedia artwork (1991), and a linear farmhouse in Sergeantsville, NewJersey (1989). With Jude LeBlanc she consulted on the redesign of the Free Bridge and the Rivanna River Waterfront, Charlottesville, Virginia (1989-90), and received an honorable mention for their design in the national competition for the Women in Military Service memorial (1989).
Her works have been included in numerous publications and in exhibitions sponsored by theAmerican Institute of Architects, ACSA, Parsons School of Design, National Building Museum,and the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia. She is the author of several articles,most recently focusing on architecture in a postindustrial society. Dunham-Jones received her BA in architecture and planning (1980) and MArch (1983) from Princeton University.
