Digital Circus
(1998-present)

Glorianna Davenport, Alex Pentland, and Flavia Sparacino

Digital Circus is a "magic mirror" environment in which humans can interact with a complex world of images and sound using gesture and other cues. Using advanced computer graphics and sensor-fusion techniques, the story landscape is responsive to human gestures, such as walking around, hand lifting, and sitting. Each object in the virtual space is endowed with an autonomous behavior that insures it will do the right thing at the right time. Like all graphical objects in the space, the participant's image is subject to graphical transformations, including scaling. With the addition of remote cameras, multiple people can connect and participate from remote locations.
