abstract
shareable media is a very distributed network-based system that explores how a community of users can share stories and express ideas through a shared database of digital video clips. to adapt the rapid evolving Internet, we need to design and experiment a scalable architecture of shareable media, which has standardized interfaces to deploy multiple applications based on wired and wireless devices through both broadband and narrow connections. the current architecture consists of three modules: storage manager, shareable media framework, and application manager. The storage manager is a database independent module that all other modules use to retrieve and store content. the shareable media framework is the standardized api which allows developers to design, develop, and add new applications. the application manager is the key component of shareable media. through this, application designers test, register, and release their products on top of the architecture. currently, three applications, plusshorts, individeo and m-views, are under development, based on the scalable architecture.
